Assists crucial goal for Sweden
Gyokeres assisted once to go with one shot (zero on goal) and one chance created in Thursday's 1-1 draw against Japan. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 85th minute.
Analysis: Gyokeres assisted Anthony Elanga for Sweden's only goal of the 1-1 draw with Japan, which should see them progress to the round of 32 as the best third-placed team. Gyokeres scored one and provided two assists across the three group games. In total, he has created eight chances in the three games, and despite only having one shot in this game, had five shots in each of the first two games of the group stage. The assist came in a link-up with Elanga, who played a curled ball into the far corner of the net, which caught the keeper off guard as the ball could have been headed in by Alexander Isak.
Struggles in defeat
Gyokeres had five shots (three on goal), one cross (one accurate) and two chances created in Saturday's 5-1 defeat to Netherlands.
Analysis: Gyokeres took five shots and put three on goal, but couldn't get on the scoresheet during Saturday's one-sided loss. It was a match to forget, and the midfield getting totally outplayed didn't help, but it still wasn't a great showing by Gyokeres. He will need to be better in the final match of the group stage with Sweden still playing for a spot in the next round.
