Three shots in loss
Chong generated three shots (two on goal) and one cross (one accurate) in Thursday's 2-0 defeat versus Cote D'ivoire.
Analysis: Chong was Curacao's most threatening attacking outlet, putting two of his three shots on target and completing his only cross as one of the few players to genuinely test Cote d'Ivoire's goalkeeper. His accuracy from limited opportunities reflected his quality, though it was not enough to prevent a 2-0 defeat that ended Curacao's debut World Cup campaign without a win.
Creates two chances Saturday
Chong created two chances and drew three fouls in Saturday's 0-0 draw against Ecuador.
Analysis: Chong looked lively in the final third and often operated as a No. 10 behind Jurgen Locadia. His movements and pace constantly complicated the opposing defense, but the end product was lacking. He should be one of the first names on the team sheet when Curacao take on Ivory Coast on Thursday, June 25, in the group-stage finale. He's one of the few players on the roster with the spark to create something out of nothing.
Active performance Sunday
Chong generated one shot (zero on goal) in Sunday's 7-1 loss against Germany.
Analysis: Chong excelled in one-one-one actions, winning 13 of his 17 ground duels and completing five of his six dribble attempts against Germany. It was an otherwise tough outing for him though, as Curacao lost its shape after the second goal conceded. Chong may have a few more chances to impress if he holds a starting role either on the wing or in a central spot, with his next test coming in the second group-stage matchup versus Ecuador's solid back line.
