Shoulder discomfort managed
Suarez was carrying some discomfort in his shoulder during Tuesday's 1-0 win over DR Congo, with coach Nestor Lorenzo noting the issue despite praising his work rate. "I also thought Luis worked hard throughout the match. He occupied two central defenders, creating space in other areas, and fought for every ball. He played with his back to goal for much of the game, and despite that, I was very pleased with his performance. It's also worth mentioning that he was carrying some discomfort in his shoulder."
Analysis: Suarez had a difficult outing overall, registering the fewest touches of any outfield player before being substituted in the 58th minute, continuing a disappointing tournament so far despite arriving in strong form as the Liga Portugal top scorer with Sporting CP. Cucho Hernandez could be in line to start in his place against Portugal if Suarez is unable to go, with Colombia managing his workload carefully ahead of what promises to be a pivotal final group stage fixture.
Struggles again
Luis Suarez recorded one shot (zero on goal) in Tuesday's 1-0 win over DR Congo.
Analysis: Suarez had a difficult night, isolated up front and further hampered by Congo's defensive setup of three center backs which gave him little room to operate. He was barely involved throughout, registering the least touches of any outfield player in the game. His only shot came courtesy of a Congo error, and outside of that he failed to make any real impact before being substituted off in the 58th minute for Jhon Cordoba. It has been a disappointing tournament so far for the forward, particularly given the strong form he was carrying into it, having been the top scorer in Liga Portugal with Sporting prior to the competition.
