Basil logged one save but conceded a goal across 45 minutes during Iraq's 5-0 loss Friday against Senegal.
Analysis: Basil stopped a free-kick from Sadio Mane, the goalkeeper's lone save against Senegal. Before then, Habib Diarra scored past the goalie, whose World Cup campaign will not include a clean sheet. Unfortunately for Basil, he was unable to bounce back more from his concession, as fellow goalkeeper Jalal Hassan subbed on during the second half. During the tournament, Basil logged three saves and four goals conceded.

Basil registered two saves and allowed three goals in Monday's 3-0 defeat versus France.
Analysis: Basil moved into the initial lineup at the expense of Jalal Hassan, who had committed a decisive error in the previous match, but the change didn't pay off for Iraq, as the new starter was also involved in a blunder when he failed to control a routine pass and gifted the opposition its second goal. Outside of that, Basil had few opportunities to show his skills against one of the tournament favorites. It's now unclear if he'll retain the spot for the next contest against Senegal.
